MUSICIAN & ZINE ARTIST† IN MEMORIAM // REST IN POWER

JOE STRUMMER

In Memoriam (1952–2002) • The Clash Frontman, Lyricist & Telecaster Rhythm General • West London, UK • Since 1974

Frontman and lyrical conscience of The Clash. With his stenciled black-painted 1966 Fender Telecaster ('Ignore Alien Orders') and fierce right-hand strumming attack, Joe Strummer bridged West London squat-rock fury with Jamaican dub sound systems and global working-class solidarity.

“The future is unwritten. Without people, you're nothing.”
