MUSICIAN & ZINE ARTIST

WALTER SCHREIFELS

Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Quicksand & Rival Schools Architect • New York City, NY • Since 1985

The ultimate creative bridge between 1980s NYHC Youth Crew and 1990s post-hardcore. After playing bass in Youth of Today and writing Gorilla Biscuits' landmark 'Start Today' LP at age 19, Walter fronted Quicksand ('Slip', 1993) and Rival Schools ('United by Fate', 2001), reshaping heavy melodic rock.

“In New York hardcore you learned that intensity didn't just mean playing fast—it meant every chord change had to feel like life or death.”
